Hey all! Glad all that rain is over, but my chickens' runs are still drying out! The first couple days after the rain, they were literally muddy, swampy stench pits

, so I've been looking into ways to keep the runs dry in the future, such as gravel, sand, and/or lime. Anyone have any suggestions on reasonably priced ways to keep runs from turning into swamps in the rain?

I have 9 large fowl cochins growing now (6 weeks old). They're lemon blue project cochins; I can't wait for them to grow up!

Right now it looks like I have at least 4 cockerels out of the batch, so anyone who may be interested in some cochin roosters in the future feel free to PM me.

Yeah, I've been doing that some, too. I only like to let them out when someone is going to be home, though, because of predators. To be honest I think I was more bothered by all the stinky mud than the chickens were.

It didn't really seem to faze them at all.​

I think it does bother us more than the birds.I just can't stand it

It is drying out slowly ,a few more days of sunshine should do it.
Is anybody going to Gilmanor next weekend? I am going and it's my first time .I hear you can find any kind of bird that you could want.I sure hope so as I am in need of a male Call Duck or a pair.I don't need anything else,but maybe a polish.That's it, a Call duck or two,and A polish pullet,nothing else but maybe a runner.....................

Just kidding LOL . It's hard to go to some place that big with all those birds and NOT buy more than you are looking for.
I REALLY do need a male Call Duck so if you have one please PM me if you are going to Gilmanor or live within an hour from me.
