not far from the headwaters of the north fork of the roanoke river.

So glad it finally came back on! We had to hide out at my parents' house by SML because we don't own a generator. Power went back on the 5th for us (Roanoke City) but our house... gah! The refrigerator smells awful! It's been 4 days and the smell of mildew is still lingering. throughout the house

Ironically, the country house we'll be moving to at the end of the month... they got power back on the 2nd!

My rabbits were hot today too. I had to give them frozen bottles and fans. Poor things. Birds did not seem to mind.

My freezer is full of frozen water bottles for our rabbits

So happy for you!!!! I know how miserable it has been (looked at checking account yesterday and can't believe how much we spent on gas for the generator too, and we were splitting it with a neighbor!). Just took the trash out and amazed to think this time last week it was hot as hell and we were miserable and tonight it is so comfortable out! Go figure.

yup. and a bonus today, i'm 14 birds shy of a full coop. lol sounds like an insult of sorts but i'm glad. that covered about 1/3 of the gas bill. now to part out with the other 18 i have left in the 'to go' coop. actually a few of those will be picked thru and kept, but it was dark tonight so i just grabbed em all and tossed em in the bachelor pad again.

i made the mistake of turning everyone loose after the new owners drove off with their birds. i'd already sorted thru and decided who stays and goes. tomorrow, the 'stay' birds get re-banded so i know who's who. they've all got the same color band right now so i knew the sandhill birds from other lines. tomorrow the sandhill band goes and they get the permanent aluminum band with their own #. 8)
