I have a young adult Silkie hen who started out runty but has grown into a nice bird. Just yesterday I noticed she was mainly turning to the right to move around outside, walking in big curves to that side.
she eats, drinks, vocalizes and browses the yard completely normal. The only thing she has done most of her life (just under 2 yrs)is she occasionally will “squat”, for lack of a better term, and sort of “shimmy” in reverse as of she’s maybe come up on something and is trying to back away from or avoid it. I
I do trim their head poofs so they can see, so I’m looking for any feedback on this.
Thanks!

What you describe may be a mild form of wry neck, an affliction common in Silkies. Usually, you want to treat it as soon as you see this happening, but I suppose it's worth trying to treat now. I'm not sure if it can be effective after this long untreated. No harm in trying.

Give her one vitamin E capsule daily with egg or a sliver of selenium. That's it. If after this daily dose, no improvement after a week, try dosing her with two capsules per day fdirectly into her beak or another week and see if that effects an improvement.

I’ll definitely give it a try. Like I said, the backing up thing has been on and off her whole life. Not consistent, once in a while, and then sometimes a few times during a two or three week period. The walking to the right just started last night I’ll definitely start her on the vitamin E and selenium. I did dose her with one ML of Nutri drench last night, one very early this morning, and one just now. I’ll do the vitamin E capsule when I get home from work.
