Visiting Rooster - what to do?

What beautiful, really good egg layers you'd get from that cross! Pale golden birds and pale brown eggs.
(I know; genetics don't always work that way. Just let me have my fantasy!)

Can't really relate because I have more than ten roosters. I don't think trying to chase him off will work. The hens are the reason for his being around. If he is someone's pet he probably does not have any hens of his own, so he wants to clam your. I have heard that de-crowing is an expensive option, but not all vets do the procedure. It sounds like a win win situation. Super tonight or possible chicks.

Or attach a band to his leg, "if this is your roo....." and leave your number.

if this is your roo please call so we can set up chick support payments... as parents of the offender you are responsible for his actions...

rofl.. sorry couldn't resist....

next on jerry springer... "leghorn, you ARE the father"

Are people worried about him bringing disease to your flock since you can't quarantine him?

I would think he belongs to someone or someone dumped him. Happens a lot. Poor guy. He probably heard your girls and wanted to come check them out for himself. I'm all for feeding him (but not claiming him) if he's a nice boy.

I was reading along- and finally The Zoo said the magic word - quarantine! Flock safety first. Not knowing where he's from means he could be a carrier of something you don't want.

I'd try really hard to locate an owner.
