I found him a while ago at the side of a road, he had lost a lot of feathers around his neck and had blood on the remaining ones as if they had been pulled out but I don’t know what happened to them. I read that his high stepping could be caused by them growing back and a vitamin imbalance - the feathers are filling out really well and I think the high stepping might be getting slightly less rather than all the time. He has had some verm-x vitamins that I bought him but I read b12 was good so bought some - it’s all a learning curve for me though so all advice is appreciated as I’m just trying to make sure I do the right things. He is eating Garvo Alfamix at the moment. Thanks for the adviceB complex or super B complex tablets for humans is what I would buy to give a chicken. They contain B1, B2, all the way to B12, and are inexpensive in most pharmacies. Crushing 1/4 to 1/2 tablet daily is all they need for leg and other issues. The liquid injectable form may be available in feed stores.
Is he molting or having his feathers pecked out by the other chickens? A little scrambled egg or tuna in small amounts additional to his feed, might give him a little extra protein. What are you feeding him? Vitamins might help some short term, but being on a balanced chicken feed is your best bet for good health.
