Interestingly enough, the vet felt it was not necessary to do another blood test. She felt that the shots we gave + osteo form should be sufficient to correct her deficiency. We instead decided to put that investment towards an x-ray. Sure enough, we found a tumor in her leg, which is why she's been lying down. Vet prescribed pain meds, but I can't leave her like this for more than a few days. We'll go for a walk by the creek soon and dig up some tasty worms.
It's a total downer, but at least now we know. It's always so random and complicated. I feel as though we'll have to eventually stop playing detective every time and cull sooner. Thousands of dollars later, we've yet to save a chicken who got ill. But that's a topic for another thread
(Interesting side note, the same day, we found a stray chicken - a welsummer - hiding scared in a parking garage. We brought her into our isolation area and are trying to locate the owner. Looks like our flock size may not change after all. Funny how the universe works sometimes!)

At least you have answers now though not the outcome you were looking for. Poor Betty! She is lucky to have an owner like you though. Enjoy your time together and thanks for the update.
