How many chickens do you have ? you might want to go eat another sandwich and check again . lol:eek:

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone here. I am just so excited for my first eggs. It's been a long wait as you all know. I had no idea that things happened this fast. I have 7 hens, 5 buff orps and 2 black australorps. If it makes you all feel any better I will continue to eat my LAST dozen white antique store bought eggs till they are all gone. John

I have 3 that are laying 3 eggs EVERYDAY . 1 hen that decided to go broody and has not started back laying YET .

Told hubby , she either does , OR she will make one HECK of a GUMBO when the weather cools off .

John, first eggs are very exciting for everybody! I have 5 laying hens, lovely ladies who give me 4 eggs a day on average. I also have 10 14 week old pullets, 2 of which (red sex links) I am watching very closely! I know they are young, but their pretty little faces are so red, their wattles have dropped, and they have "squatted" for us. I can't wait for the first eggs from that group! Also, 1 11 week old pullet and 4 7 week old pullets. First egg watch will go on all summer, and maybe even longer...

Congratulations on your first eggs!

I am really very happy for you, jealous;), but happy!
I cooked eggs this morning, store bought:(. My sons says "Are these yours Mom?" "no" I told him. "Well why not? Isn't that what they are here for!?" He is such a smarty pants! I told him that he was here to take out the garbage and I don't see that getting done either!!

No-that couldnt have been from the same hen. Typically it takes 24hours. for a hen to produce an egg. Within a half hour of laying the egg, the cycle will begin all over again. Good job and good luck!

Good Morning John! Just wanted to let you know I got my first egg yesterday! Now I know just how excited you were! How many are you getting per day now? I have 20 hens, how many do you have?
