When do the chicks voice change from peeps to bawks. lol. I still got peepers but was just curious. I notice if I go baaawwwk baawk they are very quiet.. lol.

OH yeah and...
I put on some press on nails that were french tips and they try to peck me!! Does anyone else have problems with fingernail polish and this happening? I had to put on winter gloves of all one color.

my girls peck at anything specks that are in contrast with the background- red nails, moles, necklace, freckles, scratches on my skin (ouch)! I bet they wouldn't peck if the nail polish were close to your own skin color but unless your skin is bright red or pink maybe that would be kind of boring!

Mine are 4 weeks old now and every once in awhile I hear a almost bawk like sound come from someone. Then they all go quiet like they can't belive what they heard. They are so silly sometimes.

No bawking from my 10 wk olds either. They just make happy little cheeping sounds unless they get in a little squable then there is a squack.

I wear pale pink nail polish they peck at in addition to moles and veins they can see if I have on my slip-ons without socks.

Almost got pecked in the eye by one on my shoulder when I turned to look at her.

I think that mine were between 6 and 8 wks old before they started sounding like chickens! It was so funny because I caught one that was cheeping and then out came a bawk and it startled him as well as me, he just stood real still and then started shaking his head really fast. As if to say what the heck was that! Too cute! My oldest are just 12 weeks old and all are bawking now.

My RIRs are 16 weeks old and have been honking like geese for a couple of weeks now. That started right about the time I found my first "membrane egg."

Now the membrane eggs are fewer and the shells are nice and strong, but the honking goes on with some squeaking thrown in, as in human boys going through puberty. So funny to see these glorious, gleaming, bright orange-red glamor girls producing such unglamorous sounds!

What an interesting question. I can't really say when my chicks go from peeps to bawks. I can tell you that my chicks pick at my nails and my freckles. Some do it more than others. I haven't really noticed any nail polish chipping off or anything, so I don't worry about it.

Had one of my chickies walking on my chest while I was watching TV... it came up and bit my lip... That is not a worm you silly lil pecker.
