Hello, I have a flock of back yard chickens. We started with buff orphangans large yellow very friendly. This will be about year 6 of having them. We now have some Rhode Island Reds and a Black speckled which I do not know what type he is. We did also end up with a Guinnie Hen that had ended up in a neighbors yard, and I put him in with 3 baby ducks I had at the time. They grew up together, and that Guinnie hen thinks he is a Duck. He stay right with them all the time. The only thing he won't do is swim, but he stays next to the pool when they are swimming. I am now looking for a breed of dog that would be a great protector of them since I like to let them run free in the yard from the hawks and other predators. We have decided to hatch out own eggs this year. I have purchased an egg incubator, a small one. I hope we are able to hatch our own chickens this year.
