vote for my egg yolk: Fertile or INfertile?

This one is possibly. Its so hard to tell in a pic. My bullseyes have never had a dark spot.

Have you candled the ones in your bator yet to see if they are developing?

the eggs in the incubator are only on day 3.5. i'd love to know what is going on in there, but i think it best to wait until later in incubation when i'd get better information from candling.

three of the four hens i've collected from are pullets. i'm collecting eggs from the mature hen to replace the ones that test negative at candling. i'm in a hurry to switch them out but still "holding back my horses."

ps. i just can't get a good photo with this camera at such a close range. sorry about the photo. in person, the bullseye is very apparent.

Woohoo! If you can see it in person on last pic, I think you are in business.

Be sure to post chick pics when they hatch!

That is Fertile, bullseye is on the top of the photo small white dot. You can see the two rings on that one.

i forgot to mention the egg in the last photo with the dark center of bullseye - came from the refrigerator. while collecting, i took a few out for making cookies and these were a few of them. this might explain the black center of bullseye.

i'm at eight full days in the incubator in ~30 minutes.
i've not candled.
a lot of small things seemed to go wrong at first. but since day 0.5 or so, it has gone smoothly. eggs are turned every eight hours. i've kept temperature at almost a perfect 100F and humidity has been ~50% but it dipped to 33% for a short while (no idea why but a friend tells me that is okay).

the only concern i have from here on out (other than the T & RH) is an egg going rotten. How and when should i sniff the eggs for a "bad egg?" i'd like to think i can last until day 18 to open the incubator. But if a rotten exploding egg is a threat to the whole batch i'll open and sniff. i'll search "incubating and hatching eggs" for "explod."

THX All!
