vts office killed my sisters cat by mistake

.My siste ris letting her lawyer handle things right now. Thats why I havent mentioned vets/ or veterinary clinics name

This is a perfect example to show why the use of correct terminology, grammar and spelling are so important. Yet they are so neglected in today's society. The opportunity for misunderstandings is great. "Put to sleep" is unfortunately a term that is too commonly used to describe euthanasia, in an effort to communicate on a level that the average American public school graduate can understand. The result in this case is obvious. It's a terrible shame.

I really don't know where these veterinarian's are getting licensed! In 49 years, I have never heard of a case like this in my area. Just the opposite, they will try and try to save an animal that really should be euthanized. I'm just amazed at these stories and no, it isn't due to lack of using proper terminology...sorry. It is a lack of professionalism on the part of the vet practice.

A few years ago i remember there being a story about a vet that would punch dogs, sometimes into unconciousness. The vet techs were aware of his violence and never turned him in. I always think of that when I take my dog to the vet, not knowing what is going on scares me, my dog is like a child to me, as I have no human children. So sad for your sisters cat.

I agree. When I heard something like this, I was like NO WAY.

Our veterinarian, we use for horses, cats, and dogs here, is like that. He REALLY really didn't want to remove my dog's back leg. Her mother bit her and broke it in 2 places. He was like let's see IF we can save it. But it wasn't getting blood, so he agreed it would be better to remove it.

I cant believe a vet will just kill your animal cause you say so....it is absurd to me and abuse. I have had this talk in other threads this is my opinion. I think it is wrong if the animal is perfectly healthy anyways.
I don't believe so...I think this person should pursue legal actions even if it is just civil to get some restitution for the wrong doing. 'Put to sleep' can mean euthanasia..but who would use that meaning of the term in conjunction with having ear meds bought and used??? I can't imagine that someone would buy meds to use on a dead cat!

I believe I'd be out in front of the clinic with lots of friends and family, marching with signs. Do it the legal way and get a permit if necessary. Call the news media, too. This is so uncalled for. I'm so sorry for what happened. I know seeking legal help is one way of doing things, but it won't bring back your baby. Hopefully it will keep it from happening to someone else. I think it's time for some new legislation, if you get my drift.
