I only had two peachicks hatch out of my seven eggs and I was hoping beyond hope that I might get lucky with a boy and a girl. But now one of them managed to find one measly little hole in the pen and got out and got found by a dog. Now I only have one little peachick left. I am so depressed!!

I don't know what to do now. Maybe next year I can afford a pair or something but I guess I have had it for this year

I'm so sorry....

Perhaps you will find someone in your area with too many peachicks?
You can sex Indian Blues by their flight feathers, even as chicks.

No, the only thing we have around here is wild peacocks. No one else is peahappy like us I guess. I tried so hard to find local eggs so I wouldn't have to ship them with the way our post office has been abusing our packages, or some peachicks. I was even willing to buy a yearling pair or something but I dread having to ship them either. Oh well, I will just have to see what comes

Well if you ever head to Florida on Vacation, I just hatched out nine more.....

Sorry for your loss, hope you can find another one.

Don't mean to high-jack your link, but how do you sex them by their feathers?

High jacking is fine. I wouldn't mind finding out what the one I have left is. Maybe I should post a pic of him.

I would put a trap, but all the peafowl around here are on someones private property and even though they aren't breeding them, they are totally against giving any of them up.

So sad. I am jealous. No peacocks around here and I can't justify the $50+ for a chick they get around here.

On Indian blues, the males will have redish brown flight feathers w/ little spotting on them. Females will have a darker brown with more blackish spotting on their flights. Other breeds are hard to sex until older...........
