omg they are all so adorable.

I kinda put of posting this as it is sad news. My wrong way chick passed away yesterday late afternoon. I think there may have been something else going on there that the one hen had picked up on.

The other chick is still thriving and enjoying her new family. She is the the one that hatched down the middle of the egg.

None of the other shipped eggs made it to hatch so I got just the one chick from them.

I am new to this, and decided to hatch japanese quail eggs in my still air incubator. I failed to read where it said to read the temp from the top of the eggs, so the thermometer in the bottom read a constant 100; once it was close to hatch I realized that the thermometer was in the wrong place! When I put it on top of the eggs it was 110! Aack! One of the babies actually hatched, I don't know how he made it, but he is our special little baby now, 3 weeks old and doing fine. I'm worried he may end up a little retarded later, since we baked his brain, but so far so good...
