Needing some advice...one of our show cockerels incurred an injury to his waddle and developed and infection. The lower part of his waddle was hard and we cleaned out all of the nasty yesterday (it returned to its normal shape), used lots of hydrogen peroxide, and then pumped the waddle full of triple antibiotic ointment. Here is how it looks today and it still seems like there is something not right. It has gotten more firm today and brownish liquid came out. We cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide again, more antibiotic, and then sprayed with a liquid bandage.

What else can/should we do?

Is vet care an option?

It's "Wattle" not Waddle.

Peroxide is o.k. for an initial cleaning, but it can be damaging.
Use Chlorhexidine (Hibiclens) or Betadine to flush out the wound.
Is he otherwise acting o.k.?
