Waddles won't waddle.

Made me smile. :D I am getting ready yo give him his nightly bath and socilaization. He is FEISTY tonight!!! Squalked at me big time when I got home from work. WOOHOO.......:D Got some nutri-drench from Trac Supply as well as a different feed for my duckies.

Just for clarification, this is the closest I could get to these babies.....I know I see one drake, can y'all tell about the other 3 since one is hiding it's butt from the camera?

BY THE WAY, I have recently looked closely at the duckies, I have 3 drakes and 2 hens (Pekin) and 4 drakes and 1 hen (Rouen) minus Waddles.

So, with that many drakes and that few ducks (females), there is serious potential for trouble for the ducks. The general rule of thumb (granted there are exceptions, but they are in the minority) is one drake to three, four, five, or even six ducks.

Drakes will overdo it with ducks, and since it can be a pretty rough experience for the ducks anyway, ducks can be killed with too many drakes (sometimes three or four at a time trying to get on top of her in the water, drowning her, or on land, crushing her).

Please think about adding more females, or having a drake pen, or duck (just girls) pen to protect them. Please.

I realize that I have too many drakes....I got them as a straight run from the Hatchery....I am in the process of trying to sell a few of my drakes. They are gorgeous birds. The pekins are VERY healthy and almost a butter color (as I have read this means they are healthy and have a good diet) they are also very large birds. I had origionally bought them for food (either this run or offspring of this run) but don't know how to "process" them myself. I am trying to get in touch with a friend and see what he says. If I can find homes for my boys I will go that route and then raise some babies for food this spring. The girls are beautiful as well, don't get me wrong. I am working on getting them their own area/nest boxes etc. They are just now 4 months old so are not ready to lay just yet.

No new news on Waddles. He is still feisty and everything but won't use his legs at all. :(
