Wow. Between a rock and a hard place. Personally, I'd go with the deck. Unfortunately neither are ideal.

Wow I am coveting your area under the front. No way would I let prime real estate like that go to chickens, but I have an acre so I have the luxury of saying that. Here's the front. Two to three post sections wide. Sun hits the front 5 feet or so.

I like this one. One strong wall is already done and it is plenty big enough.Another photo of the front photo mentioned in last post from the parking area. It is about 24 x 5 feet. Some areas are by 8 feet. It's above the brick wall but in front of retaining wall.

Photos are funny things - looks no where near that wide in the picAnother photo of the front photo mentioned in last post from the parking area. It is about 24 x 5 feet. Some areas are by 8 feet. It's above the brick wall but in front of retaining wall.
. Honestly I'd go with that option - you could do a really lovely coop and secure run with that space and then let them freerange up the hill if that is what you want to do (and if there is access between the 2). I think the back looks too shaded and if you said it is really wet that is no good an as much as i love my chooks I don't want them living under my deck (if I had one
), I have enough trouble shooing them off my terrace (why do they choose to come there to poo??).Wow I am coveting your area under the front. No way would I let prime real estate like that go to chickens, but I have an acre so I have the luxury of saying that.
I see advantages to both areas. It will be easy to predator proof the back part but intersting to design roosts-nesting boxes-etc. in a narrow spot. But doable.
