I know who my real friends are. They're the ones that are asking me if they can come over and see my chickens. They're the ones that are helping me decide what breed I should get next. They're ones that are standing in line waiting to see and asking if the can have one out of the next hatch. Everyone else, take a number. I don't have the time to deal with anyone that tries to stop me from being me.

So what if I love country life? So what? I am who I am. If you can't handle that, step aside and let my real friends hang with me.

Real friends will bring you up, not down. They will be honest with you, even for your own good. Goth has been around for decades..I had plenty of "goth" friends in the 80s..most of them were very messed up people and continued to have very messed up lives...some of them had brains...it sounds like YOU have brains..just remember...we all go through stages in life and sometimes we think we are being ourselves...when around the corner comes a brand new you.....you made the right decision.....big hug.

If someone was a true friend to me, it wouldn't matter to me if they slept in a box. Just saying the OP wasn't judging this person for her quirks, yet they judged the OP for having chickens.
 
That is just plain silly... someone demanding you not to like your pets/hobby, just so you could be their "friend"? Some friend they are.

I am so glad you are strong enough to know your own feelings and made the choice that was right for you, your feathered friends. When she gets older she will remember that conversation with you and think about how stupid she was to make such a demand.




Now if only my daughter would come to that realization....
 
I won't associate with anyone who judges me PERIOD. I will give you an example of a true friend. We had a rather substantial loss in the flock in November due to a predator. My friend knows this hurt me, and she couldn't care less about chickens. She doesn't get it and never will. But she loves ME and her and her daughter went around to a bunch of feed stores and brought me a box of 7 chickens. Well she thought they were chickens anyways.

Turned out they are game birds. No matter what they were. I was floored she would go out of her way like that for ME.

That is really friend. Your pine box dweller is not.

Yes, I get that...however at some point...lights need to go on when certain behaviors are present. People need to remember..the word "judge" means to convict, to sentence......it doesn't mean we don't look at the situations and rationally realize if there is something not quite right.
 
Where does one get a mattress for a pine box?

How would you make the bed in the mornings? Just close the lid?

I make it a point to never judge anyone if I can help it, but an idiot is an idiot no matter how you look at it.
