I'll never forget the note my grandmother left us. She was an old salt of the earth lady. She grew up during the depression and was extremely thrifty and tried to use everything to its fullest.

One morning we stopped down to mow her lawn. We knocked on the door as we entered. Nobody seemed to be home. There was a note on the table: "Gary(my Dad) and Max, I found and ate some mushrooms last night. I think I know what they were, but if I'm dead this morning you'll know why."

We were scared to death. Dad went into the bedroom but she wasn't there. She was down weeding the garden!!!

I found the wierdest one in my coop run tonight. Something caught my eye...i had the flashlight... i thought is it garbage? is it some kind of huge ostrich egg or duck or what IS that? or is it a dirty baseball? I picked it up and it was the size of a baseball but spongy like a shroom. smelled like a shroom...I tore it open...it was a shroom.

what was it, i wondered? is it poisonous to my fam, should my dd's happen across it? or my chickens?

I'm much like you....

I tossed it in the compost pile and tried to bury it.

Sounds like a puff ball, IF IF IF it is you can eat them, but they get wormy really fast so have to pick them when they are small and young.​
