Walking My Duck

Hello Everyone,

So I wanted to take my duck out for a walk in the neighborhood for some exercise but worried about people identifying him as a wild duck even though he follows closely behind me. I was thinking maybe a tiny color or something like that but he doesn't really like things being attached to him. We have a diaper and we put that on him at home but I don't want to put that on him outside. But I'm afraid that people will think he's not our pet or if something or someone spooks him I don't want him to jump into someplace dangerous. I also don't want to put a leash on him either.. Any ideas?

Maybe take him to a quiet park or something. I don’t keep ducks indoors but if you are scared of people spooking him then you should probably take him somewhere that their isn’t much people/ animals. A neighborhood dog could snatch him too.

It looks like there are metal bands you can purchase to put on his leg. They can be stamped with information like phone number and address probably.

I’d say it would be in a pot before anyone decides to look at its leg

Best thing to do is put it on a leash, as embarrassing as it might be, the duck needs to be able to exercise and swim.

Don't make him walk too far on asphalt, I'm pretty sure it's bad for their feet.

Too bad you don't have a muscovy, you could teach it to ride on your arm. Hehehe.
Maybe just let it have free time around your yard?

As a pet the duck is considered personal property, it might be worth showing that in order to avoid any unpleasant situation...
