Wanna see my guineas???

D'Angelo N Va. :

If I clipped one wing, would they scale a 5 ft. Fence??

I would say yes. Mine can just that high without even opening their wings. So I'm sure they could.

And any color of the 30+ different colors of Guineas can be Pied, except the pure Whites, obviously. The degree of Pied (the amount of white on the chest and wings) can vary also, from slightly Pied to heavily Pied. I hatch Pieds in at least 15 different colors out of one of my breeding flocks, Heavily and slightly Pied... And hopefully more than that this season. So yah, Pieds are common, especially for those of us who have Pieds and pure Whites in our flocks.

I love seeing all the pics! I wish I had my camera this evening when I was patiently escorting my 6 guineas (the Lavendar Wave) across my yard to their house, thru snow that is higher than their backs, calmly stopping every minute or two so they can warm their feet and catch their breaths...thinking that I should have plowed a path for them...when it hits me...These suckers can FLY! What the heck??

Most young Guineas take to the trees and will not come down for a week or until they freeze or starve to death and fall out before they will even consider letting the let snow touch them, lol (I can get away with laughing cuz it rarely snows here). Some people do plow paths for their birds, so they can get out a bit during the winter, but some people find out that letting their birds out after it snows (or during a snowshower) is a bad bad BAAAAAD idea, and have to lay down a bunch of straw or shavings, even a blanket to get them out of the trees and back into the coop! Guineas hate change, and snow and bad weather is a rather abrupt and unavoidable one, so your Lavender Wave must really trust you!!! Congrats!!!

This is my flock of Free Gangers (full time free range flock)... one Spring when a weird cold front blew thru... what's that maybe an inch of snow? LOL. They followed me around griping and complaining for an hour while I fed everybody that morning, lol. Whah whahh whahhhh!!!
