Wanna weigh in on drake behavior?

I'm actually hearing a lot about loving drakes, I like that!

My neighbor, who my ducks refer to as "Treat Lady" just loves my ducks and I didn't think she could love them any more than if they were her ducks, but when I added our new drake Henry, she fell in love even harder! She tells me that she is just obsessed with his curly tail feathers.

I really do love Henry too. He is such a vain, dignified little fellow and my husband and I love listening to his quiet froggy voice intermixed with the louder quacking of the girls.

that is adorable! Thanks for the story, it makes me even more anxious to learn about my ducks personalities!

They really do have personalities. The Buffs are bossy and bold, the Cayugas are more naughty (especially the smaller one) and Welshie is such a dedicated forager! She would rather forage and drill in the mud than come into the pen for mealworms!
wow that's funny about Welsh ie! Hehe. I want Cayugas too, they're beautiful, but my stores say they don't bring them in

You can always order ducklings online, or maybe hatching eggs.
true, but the price is really high for just a few. And my home only has capacity for a few at a time. Today was really fun though. Took my duckies to my older son's show & share and the kids loved them. The ducks were very calm and I realized their affection for me. When I was out of their sight they would peep for me. And when we got home they were happy to be loved on! Most times its a matter of wrestling them into my arms first. The kids never touched them but I suppose the commotion was enough. They were so happy to be home with us

Aww! That must have been so cool for the kids! One of my neighbors has a 6 (?) year old granddaughter and the little girl was just in love with our ducks when they were babies. I think she's kind of intimidated of them now that they are full grown though. :/ Guess I'll just have to hatch some more ducklings for her. ;)
