In my opinion, the chick in your post #12 is a cockerel. The other chick, in your post #19, I'm not sure about. Could go either way.

According to ICUyouseeme chart Orpingtons the pullets comb and wattles remain yellow longer but they have quick feather development its even on back,chest,and thighs. A pullets tail is long and straight and quick to develop their legs are also shorter.
I have been going by this chart and so far its correct. Your #2 is a pullet IMHO.

so according to those prerequisites, the first one you think is a roo for sure? I don't want to throw in the towel right yet if there is any glimmer of hope!!!!! I'm just hoping that this one doesn't read the books and wants to do its own thing, yes? this is my calm loving one... the one who lays and is sweet. this chick has also been a little ill, so I wonder if that makes a difference in the stance or the tail ya know?

I think it's too early to say for sure. I've seen pullets show slight comb development early and roos show it later and vice versa. There's no guarantee and they are too young to guess. If I had to guess, I'd say they're both pullets at this point. I don't see anything screaming roo yet. Post pics at 6 weeks..by then you'll usually know for sure.

the pink on the comb is getting a lot darker.. sigh... I hope I hope I hope!!!!! you'd think if it were a rooster it would have some sort of roostery behavior correct?? this is one laid back chick! and yes, I want a link to the chart as well!! please

I would have to agree (so far) with the description on that chart. We ordered 25 pullets and received 27. 3 are runts compared to the rest and feather development was a lot slower. Especially the tail feathers. One really acts like a roo. This is our first time with chickens, so this is just an uneducated observance.
