I never thought I'd say,"Oh that baby racoon is so cute! Okay, Honey, SHOOT IT!!!"
My husband found the hole, fixed it and STILL sets traps every night. The traps have been untouched for awhile now. (It was a mama coon & her youngins' - all gone now.) I lost 5 Americaunas, 2 RIR, 2 NH, and my beautiful SLW roo

I'd love the chance to incubate eggs

I'm new to chickens. Raising my first four now, bought from a feed store as Arucanas

. Found this forum and quickly realised they are most likely EE's.
Since then I've checked every EE post on the forum and can honestly say I'm hooked on this ' variable mutt breed ' .

The daily changes are facinating.
I've also been reviewing all the incubating/hatching posts to learn more about the process.

I'd love to try hatching some chickens and raising them from eggs. I've hatched lizards, snakes, turtles and quail previously.

Time for chicken egg incubation

I would love to have the eggs. They are EE's right? If so that is what I have been trying to get for a couple of month now. It always seems to be something happens and I can't get them. Either the roo died or the hen stopped laying or they have too many orders to fill. This is the last breed I have been looking for to complete my flock. I would absolutely love to have these eggs.

I will tell you my future plans. I am working on building my flock to sell the eggs and to also donate eggs to the needy in this area. There are so many people that can't even get food stamps so they are desperate for food. Eggs are food and I can and will donate them to who ever needs something to eat. The food banks don't have enough for everybody so I want to help.

Im gonna vote for Lickskillet too. But if she doesn't have an incubator....

My brother wanted colored egg layers on the farm. His first chickens!! (We raise cattle and he does organic vegetables)

He got EE eggs and we borrowed an incubator. I kept it here-- hand turning eggs---all the time. We had an amazing hatch!

They graduated from bathroom to farm life, and went to the big water tank brooder in our huge Morton building.

Then Tina's dog knocked the lid off...

No one's fault. She was messing with the horses, and didnt know that we moved the chicks to that farm, and didnt think when the dog was loose or in the building.
Here are all my chicks that my brother's girlfriend's dog killed. She feels terrible!!

He would be thrilled to get some more and they will live the farm free-grass and bug eating-free range- organic-happy life! I've always wanted a standard Ameraucana too..I have bantams. Maybe he would give me one hen.....

I would love the EGGS! I have 12 Silkie Chickens that I just adore and love. I have successfully hatched chicken, duck, and goose eggs in my incubator...so your eggs would have great care.

I wanted to start raising some standard size chickens this spring and decided on Americauna. I called TSC and they said they had Americuana chicks. I was so EGGsited! I went there within 1 hr of my call and they sold them all=

I did buy 10 RIR chicks and they are beautiful and healthy but what I really wanted was Americuana.

The day I decided to get this chicks it was to provide a friend for a Silkie chick I rescued. (I posted a separate story on BYC when it happened). My Silkie went under the barn and laid her nest, out of my reach. The chicks hatched and one wandered off. I found her lying on the ground and thought she was dead. She was still breathing so I held her under a heat lamp and she came back. I put her in a brooder inside the house and she is doing great! She peeped and peeped because she was so lonely. The other chicks were out of my reach so I couldn't bring her a friend. So thats when I decided to got to TSC to get her friends. Once I brought the other chicks home she stopped peeping and was happy!

My chickens are all cared for very well and are safe. I have never lost a chicken (or goose or duck) to predator or illness. I have good fencing and an Australian Shepherd thats protects them. So, the Americuana's would not only have a loving, happy home, but a safe one too.

Thank You for your consideration and generosity!

Tina

Oh those poor little babies. I suggest the brooder be kept in a safer place than where another animal can get to them. I keep mine in the house with me. When they go outside their cage is locked and there is no way anything other than a very skinny snake can get in. BAbies that small don't go out at all. They have to have most of their feathers first. But that is just me. I have heard where people start theirs in a barn and that is where they stay

I was wondering if they had to be the Americauna eggs or if we could chose the Welsummers instead. If we can choose Welsummers I would like to ask you kindly to keep me in mind.

We are new to chickens in general, and we'd like to incubate eggs instead of buying chicks. We have two young children that we'd like to raise on a farm, but so far we've only got 3 laying hens. I've been looking for some dark egg layers for a long time and would love to add some to our flock.
