Oh I fully agree... I am just waiting for mine, they will get as many eggs as I can slip under them!! I love to watch the hen raise them  
 My problem, in the many years off and on that I have had chickens I have only had one that has ever went broody, last summer we almost culled her because we thought she was sick!!  We have culled out the production hens tho and I am adding a lot more Heritage breeds that have a better chance of being broody. I am jealous over all the broodies everyone seems to have lol

I have only had chickens for a year. My husband brought them home and we were going to eat them. They got lucky we had to wait a couple of days. Lol This is my my first broody hen.

The yolk is darker in person... Day 10, why is there no veins?! We have a big air cell... I don't think the eggs are going to hatch .

Compared to egg that hasn't been in bator.

If you're not seeing any veins it might be a good idea to crack one open and see what's going on in there. I wonder if they are infertile

That's why I set eggs every Saturday. Or so I tell myself

I'm at the evening of Day Five and my small children haven been eagerly taking turns checking off the day on the 'chick calendar' each morning. I really hope that I have some luck, for their sake.

My temperature has been perfect, but I'm waiting for my humidity detector to come in the mail any day now. I've never used one before, and thus maintaining the proper humidity has always been tricky for me. I candled a random half-dozen yesterday and all appeared to be fertile.
