For girls:
I always like the name Zoe but never had a girl to give it to. (Life - the state of one who is possessed of vitality or is animate)
Delaney (an Irish surname derived from the Gaelic Ó Dubhshláine)
An old fashioned name like Chloe is good too (blooming)

For boys:
Tobias - (God is Good)
Morgan ( no clue)
Forest (needs no definition)
Reuben (the eldest son of Jacob and Leah)

Uhh...

Boy names:

Claus
Lucas
Jeff
Brannoc
Brendan
Aaron
Paul

Girl Names:

Ana
Paula
Bibiana
Lydia
Catherine

I've always liked these names.

for a girl I like Kaelyn....I think it's gaelic and means 'beloved'
I also like Sophie, Celeste, Claire, Greta and Hannah, Olivia, Mona, Morgan

Boys names are harder for me, but I like Cameron, Connor, Lucas and Riley

Here's how to get people to shut up about the name you like:

Step 1 pick the name you really want (name b).
Step 2 come up with one that's just akward (name a) I used Percival, your distaste may vary

When someone who is going to have an opinion (say in-laws) asks what name you want, say "We were thinking (name a), (pause while they gasp) but (name b) is our second choice."

Everyone will be so horified by name a, that when you mention name b, they will tell you how much better they like that name, and you get the name you really wanted with minimum hassle.

We have an Evan, named him in 2000 when it wasn't in the top 100, next year it was #23 on the baby name lists. So much for an uncommon but still spellable name.

Rocktheflock, you're awesome .... Gwen is a pretty uncommon name and I've finally grown to really like it.

My niece is expecting in Feb. and will be naming her daughter Clara Rose. Here are some of the names in my immediate family:

Gwendolyn Delaine (me)
Katherine Delaine (my eldest daughter)
Stephanie Nicole (my baby daughter)
Christine Teresa (my sister)
James Daniel (my brother)
Michael Jeremy (my brother)
Hanna Delaine (niece)
Summer Marie (niece)
Alexandra (niece)
Daniel (nephew)
John Patrick (nephew)
Cynthia Claire (cousin)

Good luck!

Gwen

I'm hoping we'll be able to find out the sex of this little one so we can narrow this whole name business way down! Daniel and Hannah are the two names that keep coming in my mind. Neither of us have relatives or close friends with those names, so...

My grown daughters are:

Sytera Nicole
Shaunee Marie

When Sytera was about 4, we found out from an Eastern Indian doctor that her name was an ancient Persian word meaning precious little star. She's been our little star ever since. People have a hard time with the pronunciation, but we place the emphasis on the middle - sa TER a

Shaunee is forever getting her name misspelled:
Shaunee - Shawnee. Sounds the same, but I thought it was prettier with a "u"
