I tried multiple ways how to keep my chicken off my deck and showered it with poop.
At first, I used animal deterrent. Not helpful at all.
Then, I tried to give them some tough love discipline, but they are more stubborn than my children.
The next one was pretty desperate and ugly. I posted some chicken wire and post, but that made my backyard ugly.
They can also sneak in under the chicken wire.

The current solution is tidier than the chicken wire, and thought to share it to the group. They haven't been on my deck for around 2 weeks already. Sure... I lied... sometimes they still jumped it over, but it only happened twice over a span of two weeks...
I bought the bird spike from Amazon and nail them to 2x4 wood. I like it because it's not attached permanently on the deck.
Hopefully this will be helpful for those who has the same frustration.

Thank you so much! This is such a great idea. The bird spike doesn't look bad at all and I'm glad to hear it's keeping your deck clean. We have 12 10-week old chicks that have made our concrete patio absolutely disgusting. Keep us posted about how the bird spike works and if it keeps your chickens off your patio!

Sure. So far so good. I think chicken will fly less higher as they go to full mature age.
I wish i can have 12...

Yes, they will definitely fly a lot less high and less often as they age. Our chicks fly up into the trees like regular birds right now, but the older hens don't fly at all. How many chickens do you have? It's so cute seeing them in the yard and on the patio, but they are so messy :(

@feather13 I have 1 Golden Wyandotte (around 2 yrs old) and 4 CQ (3 months old)

Do you ever have children on the property? Or anyone with impaired mobility?

That would be a terrible trip hazard and looks like it could do some serious damage to someone who fell. :(
I do have 3 small children and my old parents.. Yeah I told them to be careful, but the spike is actually very harmless. The trip hazard would be more concerning.

but the spike is actually very harmless.
Really?
Wires are so thin and fine that they bend rather than pierce the skin?....
..... or eye(I know, I know, worst case scenario....but still)??
Doesn't look that way to me.
Hope that porch is not the main egress into the house.

Update .. Update .. Solution has been great so far!
They dare not go to our deck no more.
Three weeks ago, we got a racoon attack. it killed one of my CQ in the middle of the night.
I didn't know racoon could open a lock...
Since then, because the spike was attached in the wood and modular, I used it to block the entryway of the coop.

Double-function.
