I can send you eggs from young hens-- they lay a much smaller egg. Or ask whom ever you want to buy from--ask about getting only eggs from first year hens. These eggs my girls lay at this age are not much bigger than a large chicken egg.I like both but I need eggs the would fit in my turner
LOL, you are so right Frank. I force limits on myself by keeping to the ONE homemade incubator. If it can't fit, it must wait until there is room. ALso by stacking I can fit in a LOT, but it does take a few minutes to get them all turned. SOmetimes I opt for tipping the incubator when time is too short to turn. Seems to work ok for me. IMO as long as the eggs are moving and get equal turning, they do alright. ( I have a forced air so the temp is fairly even thruout the incubator. )That could be a problem I bought an Incubator that came with a Universal egg turner or at least its called a universal egg turner.
the bigger Turkey eggs can not have eggs beside them or they will not fit being to wide.
This is a 42 egg turner so with the larger eggs I might get 30 in it.
This still works but it cuts down on the number of eggs I can put in it to Incubate.
If you are concerned about the egg size you can look on the intranet and there are egg turners that come with goose egg rails installed or as an extra set.
You could buy a universal egg turner but remember you would not be able to fill it up with the larger Turkey eggs.
Third option is to build one I have done this and it worked well but was to small for my needs after the second year expanding the number of eggs I wanted to Incubate
You say you already have an egg turner can you find goose egg rails to fit your turner did it come with a sheet with the option to purchase them separate or look by name brand on the intranet and see if you can find the goose rails.
Good Luck Happy Incubating
