ok, so i got 14 shipped silkie eggs in yesterday.......let them sit about 14 hrs.......they are now in the bator with a hatch date of 06/23.......got a hovabator 2362 forced air with egg turner.......temp fluctuating b/t 99.3-99.7, but seems to want to hold at 99.7......humidity at 52% (too high????).....i woke up at 3:30 am with the first thought on my mind being gotta go check my bator!!!!.....gonna be a long 3 weeks!!!! anybody want to climb on board with me??? BTW my name is Shannon

I have 13 silkie eggs going in tonight. I got them yesterday and they are resting. Plus I have to wait for one to finish zipping and dry and then clean the incubator. So I will be at least 12-14 hours behind you.

i usually keep the humidity around 45 until day 18 when I add water and try to get it around 60.
i am using a Brinsea Eco 20.

thanks for ya'lls replies...

hey susan, the humidity was running at 39 so i put a small glass of water in the bator....should i take it out and let the humidity drop? does that affect the temp...i'm a first timer and other than the things i've read on the forum, i have no clue as to what i'm doing!!!!!..had no idea this was so complicated..i'm checking the bator about every 10 minutes

need help!! took bowl of water out and humidity dropped to 50.......springfield thermometer is reading temp of 99.1 but the thermometer that came with bator is about 100.2 and i set my eggs at 5:10 this am....what do i do? how bad is this?????????

Shannon,

The manual for the brinsea says 40-50 for the first 18 days. i know with some incubators people have said they add sponges for extra humidity. with temp of 99.3-99.6. i think mine runs around 100.

hopefully someone can help you. i am also new to hatching this incubator has just made it easy. hopefully I am not jinxing myself.

Hey Pam,
Thanks for gettin on board with me. Hopefully you won't regret it as I may have ALOT of questions. I am so excited and nervous at the same time...I really want this to go well! They're eggs that were shipped from TN to LA and the temps were running in the low to mid 80's when then arrived.....I'm hoping that doesn't have too much negative impact on them. Do you have silkies?
Shannon

Hi all! I, too, plan to set eggs later this afternoon/evening. I have the incubator on and getting up to temperature. This will be my first time incubating.
Setting:
11 EE's
10 BO x either BO or RIR
6 mutt x EE

Good luck everyone!!

PS Isn't 3 weeks from today 6/12???
