*waves hi!*

Ok, I haven't actually posted here yet, but I'm stoked that there are 2 other peeps from Hayden on here! I'm over by Atlas elemetary school. I've been working on hatching eggs all winter, so I'll have a few different varieties of Marans, some Welsummers, Barnevelders, Silkies, Seramas, and Call Ducks to add to my existing flock. It is really too much fun!

Wow, is this cool or what!! There are IDAHO people on this forum!! Welcome!! We may have to get the Panhandle contingent together this Spring!!

Hi Idahodebra!
Welcome to the forum! I pretty new around here, too.
We will have to get together this spring! I'm new to hatching and Michele is interested, too.
You may have to be our local hatching guru!

Ha! Not sure how much of a guru I would be. I did finally mostly stop killing them all, so I could tell you what *not* to do. If you want a fun little experiment, you can buy fertile eggs at Pilgrims health food store. They are refrigerated, but pretty cheap. I got 3 little cuties from that experiment. Right now I have 2 Genesis 1588's pretty full, and am waiting on some Silkies and BC Marans. This has been a very fun way to cope with the 5 feet of snow we got!

Just wanted to say hi. I have been to Coure de lane many times and find it beautiful up there. I go through nearly every year as I go to Sandpoint for the draft horse show up there. Also spent a weekend there once at the great hotel and played a round of golf put plenty of them in the water trying to hit that floating green LOL

I see butchered the spelling I have seen it many times and still cannot spell it. It is heart of the needle or something like that right?

After seeing the thread about hatching Trader Joe egg's I was thinking about checking Pilgrims out.
What type of chickens did you hatch from the store bought eggs?
I also have the same incubator also just got it last month.
Have you been getting your latest hatching eggs locally?
Good luck on all of your hatches that you have going!
Carolyn

They carry Rock Island Brown eggs, which, if I remember correctly, uses a production breed called Hy-line. The eggs were huge, the chicks are growing fast, are yellow and feathering out to white, and have pretty good personalities so far. It totally freaks people out when I tell them I hatched grocery store eggs.
