Choose Calls! Choose Calls! They are adorable, quiet, sweet, come in beautiful colors, lay cute mini eggs, make less of a mess, and are miniature! I love them! Calls CAN fly very well, but if you clip their wings, which is easy, they are grounded.

I'm new to ducks, just under a year with my flock. I did a lot of research before choosing a breed, and decided on Welsh Harlequins. They have lived up to all my expectations, and I recommend them highly. They are great layers, calm, and gorgeous. I love that the males and females are so differently colored, but both beautiful. It is like having two breeds instead of one.

Yours are quiet?

Actually mine aren't loud most of the time but when they decide to cut loose wozers!:gig

I recommend a mixed flock, actually. Unless you're raising ducklings, cross-breeding isn't an issue. With multiple breeds, you can keep track of who lays what--who's not laying, and who's laying weird eggs and may have an issue that needs checked out. Also, it's easier to keep track of birds that don't all look like clones. Not an issue with magpies, but my father used to have a half-dozen pekins... I could tell them apart. No one else could.

And I really like silver swedish ducks. Just tossing in my two cents.

GORGEOUS!!! I always read they are loud though. I think I want a larger breed, but they are soooo cute!
