Wanting to try organic Grass feed ground beef....

We ordered organic grass fed cattle 2 years in a row. We split a 1/4 cow witha family member. There is a HUGE difference in the quality and price of the meat, but you do get what you pay for. The only cut I had any complaint with was the ground beef. So little fat is used in the grinding that if not cooked correctly it comes out very dry. The same goes for the roast cuts, you need to add some kind of fat or it cooks with dry results.

Once you try it, you will never want to eat CAFO meat ever again.

When you order in bulk like that, make sure and ask for the fat the gets trimmed and thrown normally.

That's the only kind of beef we buy. IMO, it has so much more flavor and nutrition than the conventionally raised beef. In fact, all the beef, pork, lamb, and chicken we purchase is raised on pasture and we have a herd-share for raw milk. Dh & I like buying from people we know and trust, too.

We had our first grass fed and finished steer slaughtered last December. I was soo worried that eating the meat would be like gnawing on a shoe. Not so! And the ground beef has phenomenal flavor. My mom was gifted with some, and she says she can never go back to that grocery store stuff. It is very lean (but that's how we like it!) so be careful with the cooking, especially since grassfed meats tend to cook faster.

We have a place up the road from us that sells it...
I think we may try it....

It is wonderful!

It tastes like what meat is supposed to taste like.

We buy from a friend who free ranges his black Aberdeen Angus, they even go down to the beach. Quite a sight to see, a bunch of big black cows sun tanning on the beach

His cows are not pumped full of antibiotics and other junk either. They are living how a cow is supposed to live.
