I've never been a fan. They were illegal to have in Michigan, at least, until the rabies vaccine testing was done, so they could be vaccinated. I've just never felt that any weasels were good pet material, and the domestic ferrets available here were very short lived, with sad health problems at 18 months of age, or shortly after.
And as additions to our wildlife? terrible idea!

I have known a couple of people that had them and they make pretty good pets if you like that sort of varmint. A little stinky so they also sell shampoo for them. We will mess with them some when in the pet store.

Supposedly if you fix them, they don't stink quite as bad. I've always wanted one, but now that I have birds I know that's likely never to happen

I would love a pet ferret, they are funny and mischievous. Like a little puppy
