Warm water trick to assess eggs works! UPDATE!! SUCCESS!!!

THE LAST LITTLE CHICK MADE IT! IT WAS PIPPED WHEN I WENT TO WORK AND HE CAME OUT SHORTLY AFTER MY HUSBAND GOT HOME FROM WORK. The poor little thing peeped and cried all during supper. I tried holding it to console it and nothing worked. He was upset to be alone.
I tried adding him to the mamma, his mamma and she touched him with her beak, he was crying, he waddled towards her, she cocked her head to the side, fluffed up, and lifted her wing. He scrambled in and instantly he quieted and closed his eyes. He is happy.
I know she COULD hurt him, but she is very motherly, not skittish and her actions indicated to me at this time that she is happy to have him. Her other chicks are 3, 4 and 5 days ahead, so I am not sure what tomorrow will bring but we will see!

That water trick sounds pretty cool. I'll try that next time I'm not sure an egg's still alive.

Let me ask if a egg is rotten and you put it in the water
it will just float, whats the chance of it exploding?

I sure don't want any more eggs exploding on me. I had a egg that was oozing I picked it up in a zip-lock bag and chunked it, it exploded on impact.

An egg near hatching will float, it doesn't mean it's rotten. It means the air cell is bigger, like it should be, because some of the fluid is supposed to evaporate before they hatch.

How many times can you do the floating test on your egg my egg is 3 days over due now yesterday I did the floating test and the baby chicky was moving all around the egg but still has not hatched today I wonder how long it's going to take for this chicky to hatch
