If you buy eggs from Ebay beware. I have NEVER done this before but in my desperate desire to have a couple of Frizzle chickens I ordered some off of Ebay. This persons reviews were 100 percent positive so I took a chance.

I put half the eggs in my incubator and the other half under a hen that had went broody a couple of days before the eggs arrived. NONE of the eggs hatched. I left them 3 days past hatch day just to make sure. So I opened each egg and there was NO sign of any growth at all..... NOTHING.

I didn't leave a review when I first received the eggs, even thought they were packed wonderfully. I wanted to wait till they hatched to give a complete review. But when I went back to give the review I could no longer do it. The other reviews I read about eggs were written prior to any hatches. they were all about packing and shipping. So I am guessing the review button is removed 20 days or so after the package is delivered.

mcdougallfarmandnursery This is the ID of the person I ordered them from. Since I couldn't warn others on Ebay I thought I would put out a warning here. I have email this person but I have not gotten a response back yet. So PLEASE BEWARE!!!!

I'm so sorry that sucks I was looking for some fertile eggs for next spring so thanks for the warning

To be fair, you never know what happened to them in transit one 100°+ day in the back of a truck could easily cook them...

You also have 45 days after the sale to file a dispute and 60 days after the sell to leave feedback, so I have to question why you say you can no longer leave feedback...

Go to 'My Ebay' at the top of your Ebay page and pull down to 'Purchase History' there should be big blue 'Leave Feedback' buttons next to every item you have purchased in the last 60 days...

xs 2 the sellers can not control what happens after the eggs leave their hands. If they have packaged properly and shipped timely, the eggs were clean and they have /are known to have a good fertility rate to their reputation, then they have provided the buyer with good service. Scrambled eggs, over heated/over cooled eggs from time in transit and handling by the post office is a chance anyone who buys shipped eggs takes. There is also special measurements that many take after recieving shipped eggs to increase the rates of hatching as well.

Your right I have been a member ofeBay since 2000 and I am a ware of all if that. That is why I said something wasn't correct!! I got them the last half of July I will have to look back on the date but I should still be able to leave feed back but I can not. I have not gotten a reply yet from this person either.

well I will NEVER buy from this person again or from eBay. I'm not completely without knowledge on hatching eggs but I do know eBay and I'm sorry but something isn't right when you can't leave feedback or get a reply to emails. Buyer beware. If all that is the case then to sale eggs and ship them knowing someone is wanting to hatch them, but knowing that the chances of them even being able to hatch after the mailing process is almost like fraud. Easy money I guess. Not from me any more.

I don't ever read the update to terms, but I think they've changed something. I had bought a book for school for my son and after I ordered and paid, the seller cancelled my order (supposedly because they could not fill it) but still had the item listed. They had a 99% positive feedback but I never checked the negative feedback until after she did that. There were many others that had the same complaint that she had done that too but it would NOT let me leave feed back. Would not give me the option to leave it, no matter what I clicked. I was ticked. She wouldn't answer my attempts at communication either. I think ebay standards are dropping badly. I've been purchasing from ebay for 7 years without problem and this year I've had multiple problems.

I've bought eggs from eBay on various occasions as well as shipped eggs to people on here. I've had hatch rates from 0-75% on shipped eggs. Over time I have determined it depends on distance and direction of travel. Things from the north of me have n better hatch rates, items from the west and south, much worse. I'm convinced it is post office handling as well as possible x-rays.

Sometimes shipping is the only way to get certain breeds.

It does seem odd that you can't contract the seller, though.

A few weeks ago I spent about a total of 2 hours on the phone with no less than five Ebay representatives trying to resolve an issue once the seller decided to go silent on me and not return any further emails... Once the seller went silent my good grace went out the window and it became a matter of principle...

If you are persistent and want results you can get them... The problem is finding a representative that will help and address your concerns, the first three representatives that tried to take care of my concerns on the initial two calls were clearly not native English speaking individuals and regardless of their ability to speak English they severely lacked English comprehension and it was obvious they were reading over their own trouble shooting FAQ and spitting back the canned responses on that FAQ, not actually addressing my concerns... On the third call the lady that answered was a native English speaker and she was able to resolve my issues in about 15 minutes on the phone, as she comprehended my issue after wasting nearly 2 hours on the phone with the previous representatives...

I have been an Ebay member since 1997 and have over 1200 purchase feedbacks meaning I probably have over 2000 purchases as many don't leave feedback, up until this year I had never left a negative not one, this year I have left 3 all because the sellers choose to cut off communications instead of try to work with me... That or they insulted me like the last guy that offered me a 47 cent refund for the $4.70 item that arrived broken and unusable do to poor packaging...

As I said the vitality of eggs is a slippery slope when shipped, but that is no excuse for the seller to not respond to your concerns and try to come to an amicable solution...

there is no amicable solution and you should be aware of that before you purchase any shipped item. Ive dealt a lot with ebay and never had a problem as a buyer when there was a problem. As a seller it can be a nightmare which is why I wouldn't consider selling eggs in the first place. People do not want to pay for over night shipping, live animal stickers or insurance yet they expect a 100% hatch rate. As a seller you do your best knowing that the package will be beat to crap and left in vehicles that are not climate controlled during delivery so now you have a upset buyer who wants you to replace the eggs and pay to ship them (even if you refund you are still out the ebay and paypal fee).
Sellers don't sell eggs to make a loss and sometimes they will take a loss just to keep someone happy and to avoid bad feedback but that's the same as being blackmailed really.

heres a real life example:

buyer: I payed to much for the item
me: ok repack the item and return it and I will refund the item plus the return shipping
buyer: I don't want to return the item
me: I can not give a refund until its returned
buyer: I gave the item away as a birthday present so I can not return it
me: was the person you gave it to unhappy?
buyer: no she loved it but I think I payed to much
me: im sorry but unless the item is returned I can not give you a refund
buyer: unless you give me half my money back im reporting you to ebay and leaving bad feedback

buyer is now banned from ebay.

I can only imagine what it would be like selling eggs.

I bought 12 eggs a few weeks back and didn't read the post. i thought 100% fertile guaranteed was a sales gimmick. It wasn't until we got the eggs and could tell they were incubated for a least 10 days before shipping then I thought about the 100% fertile guaranteed. Turns out the seller pulled them from a broody hen and checked they were fertile before shipping. I complained in the hope he would realize how dumb that idea was and he apologized but no refunds or freebies. I now email and ask questions first

Im really sorry that you fell ripped off and it would be great if the seller sent you some freebies but if you consider the other side of the coin where you are selling and shipping eggs would you sell me 12 eggs and guarantee that I will get at least 8 chicks.
