I actually ordered extra chicks expecting some to die from all the talk or high death rates. I went with a little hatchery and only lost one total! I was shocked, and have too many boys now.
hi , they will replace them . i know that is no consolation for your loss and grief , but it was prob the shipping that did them in amd not the hatchery. MMH my order from them was oky , i ordered 128 rec'd 130 and lost 4 .
chin up and be put your big girl pants on!!!
While we would like for all of the chicks we have to live you must remember that chicks die for seemingly no reason whatsoever. The industry standard is barely 75% make it the first few weeks. This fatality window is repeated when the pullets approach laying age. Chicks die. That is the reality of raising chickens. We don't have to like it but we do have to be reasonable and responsible and take it in stride as something we cannot always prevent. With that in mind if you call MM and discuss it with them they will make good on those chicks. They will refund your money, give you a credit or try to ship you more chicks.
I'm so sorry about your chicks. It must be awful to watch them die and not be able to do anything about it.
This is my experience with MM:
1st order - 27 chicks, 1 died within a day
2nd order - 27 chicks, 1 died within a day
3rd order - 26 chicks, 1 died at about 3 weeks (neurological disorder???)
4th order - 53 chicks, all survived
MM is very good about refunds and replacements. I think the reason the farm store chicks survive is because by the time they are sold, everything that is going to be lost from shipping stress has already died.
Good luck with the rest. Let us know what happens.
