Warning: Watch out for those heat lamps

Had the chickens in the new coop. Forgot to turn the lamp off during the day and it feel to the floor and burned a hole thru the 3/8" plywood floor. Lucky it never ignited and the chickens were not locked in.

Heat lamps should always be "double hung." There needs to be a backup hanger in case one fails. Sometimes those clamps just pop off. I use a piece of plastic coated wire clothesline.

You were lucky. People have burned their house and coop down with those things.

I don't trust those clamps. If I hang a heat lamp, I always use two pieces of wire, so there is a back up.
