No one is saying they shouldn't train their people right. But we all know not everybody does what they should all the time. You can't control it. If it bothers you so much, boycott the store, call the manager etc etc. But just a word of advice, don't expect people to behave how you think they should all the time. With animal keeping and everything else. You are setting yourself up for a life full of disappointments.

There's a convenience store half a mile from my house. I think they could do better on many fronts. I drive an extra 10 minutes to one that I like.

I like TSC, the one thats 22 minutes from my house. There's one that's closer, in the other direction, but I don't like that one so much. During the pandemic, their curbside pickup service has been outstanding. I get organic feed for my best chickens, layer pellets for the other crew, oyster shell, grit, brooder supplies, bedding, dog food, sheep feed, etc. from them. I even got a nice chicken coop there last year. I do NOT buy chicks from them. Perhaps because I was unsure of the breed, or maybe I didn't like the way the kid was handling them. I generally get my chicks from a local farm and feed store, or TSC online, from Hoover's Hatchery. when I can use 10 chicks at once.

If you buy chicks from tractor supply BE CARFUL! Inspect each chick carefully!!! They never get me the right breeds and all the chicks are always half dead when i get them. So make sure to look up the breed and compare. I find everyone at my Tractor supply is very very lazy! The chicks never have enough food or water. They always have pasty butt! Then they wonder why the chicks die! Give me your thoughts on your local tractor supply or feed store.
I got my chicks when they FIRST arrived. Only one of mine passed but I think she ate something. Yes they do give out wrong breeds, however it’s kinda our responsibility to monitor which ones they are putting in the box! :)

TSC is a great place to get chicks, and no they never get the breed right. However there mystery birds is what I like about them. It's like being in the ugly duckling story, where a duck is really a swan, or like Forrest Gump, you never know what your going to get.

The causes of Chicks death mostly is the dihrya, and the stress that comes with it. I think before you take on a responsibility you need to school yourself in caring for them in every possible way, learn to put out the fire before it gets out of control.
