Hi everyone
one of my young sexlings has an unusual big comb which I heard is not a bad thing, only now she got a few wart like looking spots on it. Is that something I'd need to worry? I'm thankful for any response. thank you

Hello! That could be fowl pox. It's a virus passed by mosquitos that becomes contageous amongst the flock. It usually clears itself up. My flock had it this past summer. The mosquitos were just awful. Everybody survived. I did nothing special, except I did add some vitamins/electrolites to their drinking water. A few of my hens did look bad for a few days, but they perked right up. They had some around the eyes.

Once they're over it, they are immune. Like when we get the chicken pox. I've been told that, once you notice the spots, your flock has already had it for a few weeks. It took about a full month for my flock to get over it. Maybe a bit longer. Egg production did go down though.

Have a happy holiday and this was just my guess, so if your flock does have it, I'm sure they'll recover.
