Recolation isn't the greatest option, unless that's what you do for a living as in rescue. Ideally I'd have a couple of LSG keeping watch, but not in the market for those at the moment.

Possums will eat your chickens, they are not there just for the eggs, mice and rats. They are not your friends. Please take that into consideration the next time you see a possum scouting out your chickens.

I'll let you update me on the effectiveness of that. If I'm in the market for anything new it will be a big bore brush rifle.

By all means use high velocity hollow points if your in the country.
Closer in to town you may have to be more Sneaky Pete.

Some opossum aren't very spry and you can walk right up to it and knock it in the head with a 2x4..

Last year we had two dead and one dying opossum within about 200' near the house and barn. The two that were necropsied had multiple abcesses, unknown cause. Very strange, and haven't found more. Fortunately.
