Was expecting some pipping by now but there's nothing.

For still air incubators, temps should be maintained around 101 degrees throughout incubation. I would say if they are going to hatch, it will be a couple days late. If you're thermometer was inaccurate at all (a degree low), they may not hatch due to the low temps and improper formation.

Start over with the correct temps and hopefully it works out better next time.

Thanks for the info! I really count on the folks here

I'll give them some more time. The FIVE pups we got today will keep me occupied so I'm not hovering over the incubator waiting for some action! The waiting is driving me INSANE!

Give it a few more days! I had my first batch of eggs hatch almost two days late. I was giving up on them when the chirping and pipping started! Sending first hatch good luck vibes your way.

No ;( I had to move the incubator to accommodate a new countertop coming in - went without one for a week. But anyways, I moved it back so I could paint the laundry room. And that is when disaster struck. Someone, who should remain nameless, had disabled an outlet because he was fiddling with something electrical. The incubator got down to 70 degrees!!! I moved the incubator, plugged it in and got it going again. That was Saturday, I think. Well, I had to move it again for the countertop being installed and it never got plugged in. I hate to break them open. I hate death and not sure I want to see some baby chicks that didn't make it.

I'm so sorry! With five pups in the house (

) you might not be up to another round just yet, but when you're are I'm sure your next hatch will go better.

The pups at least keep me occupied so I'm not hovering over the eggs! LOL I'm pretty bummed. I was really hoping I'd get these 2 to hatch. I will at least wait until we get the chicken coop done on the farm so we can move the chickens and ducks out there. Then we can re-use the backyard pen for the pups as a holding pen. .... or fence in the backyard. Boy, this chicken coop has become a huge project. I had this brilliant idea to use the vinyl off the kitchen floor for the hen house. That has then turned into putting hardwood floors, painting the kitchen (and laundry room since we put the wood into the laundry room and had it completely gutted), new countertop and we'll be tiling in the kitchen. The pups are likely to destroy the bathroom they are in, and the bathroom needs redone anyways ....so I think a bathroom refresher is on the horizon. Then we lost a pup under the deck when she got spooked by my older dog. We had to tear up the deck a bit to get to her. But there were some rotten boards and it was something we considered sprucing up.... this is becoming one expensive chicken coop! LOL

Well, today I decided to open the two eggs I had. One had nothing but yolk in it. So now I'm really confused - we kept this egg for incubation because it seemed it had been fertilized and started to form on the day 8 candling. So then with the hatching delay, I tried the float test and this one "passed" as in having a viable chicky inside. But there wasn't. Had someone taken a pic of my face .... well, you would have seen the puzzled look on my face.

So then we opened the remaining egg. Sadly, there had been a chicky inside. I couldn't tell you what did it in, but no doubt the incubator being turned off and the temp getting down to 70 didn't help anything!

I will try again, probably once we get these 5 pups better potty trained or at least big enough to navigate the steps and the hens out to the their new digs on the farm. Too much going on right now when you figure in 2 birthdays and Thanksgiving all within the next 7 days. At least I don't have to cook!
