I was a restaurant for lunch with a few friends today and we were seated by the hostess.
Our server came over and offered us drinks, I looked up and through the facial hair SHE had I also noticed skin flakes the size of the circles after you use a hole punch.
she also had these skin flakes in her hair too. (edited to remove the yuck face as to not further offend anyone...sorry to those I may have offended)
I calmly said to my friends that i need to move out of her section i could not let this person serve my food with skin flakes hanging off of her like that. My friends agreed (they dont argue with me with stuff like this...and yes I was the only nurse there)
I calmly walked up to the hostess and requested a change of location and trying to be as polite as i can I explained that i was not comfortable with the amount of skin flaking that the server has.
I know she is probably suffering with some dermatological disorder and is really self conscious about it already but there was no way I could have the skin flakes in my food....
I know i know I would vomit on the spot if i walked back into the kitchen and seen when the cooks are doing sneezing and coughing and what ever else they do...
I am wondering if there is anyone who may work within the food services industry that may be able to shed some light on the standards and where the health board may step in.
so was I wrong about asking to be moved?...
****UPDATE***
I guess the hostess told the management what happened and they actually looked my info up (they got the name from the CC receipt i guess) The manager informs me that she has been spoken to about this before and refuses to work the hostess station or the take out counter during times of a flare up...I also insisted that she not loose her job because in the economic times jobs are hard to come by. He promised me she would not loose her job, she may be re stationed to the take out desk until her condition is under control
