Was this guy after my chickens?

We found this guy tangled up in my neighbors baseball netting yesterday morning. They don't have any livestock or pets other then dogs, do you think he was after my chicks? I have 18 four week old chicks in my baby pen and was wondering if I need to keep an eye out for this guy again.

County animal services came out and was able to set him free, unharmed.

Probably not. Probably saw a mouse or rabbit running under the netting and ended up getting netted... Poor thing. Glad he's ok.

The reason I say this, is I live in the woods kinda, and we have lots of owl, even some snow owls this winter, and nope... never went after my chicks or chickens.

An owl will eat young chickens. They make for easy pickins'.

Pretty owl glad he is ok and yes they eat chickens!

Not all owls eat chickens. That one is a great-horned and it will eat chickens of all sizes and will take turkeys as well. HIGH THREAT LEVEL

I think almost anything will eat young chickens.
