Here is a Rose comb
1 week old male

same male is on right side -2 weeks old. Comb has gotten much wider. We suspect the one on left is a female as the Rose comb has not really changed from week 1 to week 2 and it is a smaller chick.

They have the same colouring as Jersey Giants I've raised in the past. Black with yellow under the chin. So they could be.

so, looks to NOT be a straightcomb. Sometimes hard to photograph in the first week or so. An Australorp has a straight comb. The comb of your chick looks more flat - reminds me of a Rose comb beginning, maybe a cushion comb. Can you tell if any tiny serrations like a single comb would have?

You're right they are hard to see, but I'm sure those are not single combs.
Probably rose, possibly walnut/cushion, don't really look like pea comb. I keep thinking I'm seeing a buttercup comb, but I think thats just the shadows messing me up--I have never heard of a black chick with a buttercup comb.

Dominques have rose combs, and I think that is the most likely breed. Dominiques grow barred feathers (black and white stripes), so you will see that soon if they are Dominiques.

Wyandottes have rose combs, but black ones are fairly rare. Barred ones and blue ones are pretty rare too. I think Wyandotte is the second most likely breed.

Sumatras have pea combs, but I think the combs look more like rose than like pea, so probably not.

Easter Eggers, Olive Eggers, Favaucana often have pea combs, sometimes have single combs. I don't really think those chicks have pea combs, and certainly not single combs. So probably not any of those breeds.

I think all the other breeds that have been mentioned in this thread have single combs, and I'm sure those combs are not single combs.

So I think you've probably got Dominiques, with a chance of Wyandottes.

I will try to get some better photos after work. I’m a newbie so I’m completely lost when it comes to the combs

So it appears I have a pair of Dominique’s? Thank you all so much!!! Such an informative group, I’m glad u joined! Since I’m here I’ll show my other babies.
Middle I was told is a bantam, right I was told is a New Hampshire red and left I believe she said was an ISA brown. Either way they are the cutest things and I’m so excited for my chicken keeping journey

Probably, yes. If they grow black feathers with white bars, then definitely. (If they grow solid-colored feathers, then likely Wyandottes instead.)

Im glad yall were able to narrow it down, ive got poor eyesight and just ran through what i knew could have been black as a baby , separating it with likelyhood of finding it in a feedstore.
