I am in Centralia near the Chehalis river near Grand Mound.

This is the second time this has happened and we have lived here for only 2 years.

I just have to post photos of my valley. The flood affected most of western Washington from Chehalis to Bellingham. This flooding is something that hopefully we won't see for some time. Our yard was just soggy and we weren't able to get to work for a couple of days but others had it much worse.

In our town most of the houses are on the hill with the farms in the valley.

A friend of mine used to live on this street which you can't see since it's under several feet of water. She still has relatives who live there. These houses were built long before the valley ever flooded. I think the first flood occurred in 1990. At that time it was called a 100 year flood. Now with the hills clear cut and developed the valley gets the development's run off and floods fairly often but not like this.

Here's my regular route to work. The river is supposed to be under that bridge.

This is my alternate route after the water receded. I was able to get to work yesterday when one road re-opened. It was an extra 21 miles out of the way. Just an inconvenience which I'll take over losing everything to the water.

I saw valley residents with their stuff on the former rail road tracks waiting it out. It looked like most of the livestock made it ahead of time since we knew the flood was coming. We had a record snow, then a heat wave with record rains. We'll find out in a few days how much damage was done. As far as I know no lives were lost.

I am in the Willamette and we didn't get flooded beyond what happens every year here. You could hear the neighbors with basements sub-pumps (sp?) going, but other then that, we got off easy. I think WA got the brunt of this storm.
