Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hi everyone... I thought I should let everyone know this. A couple weekends ago I went to a small 4-H poultry show. I was looking for birds to show this spring, and found a good trio of Wyandottes to start out with for $65. They all seemed fine and healthy at the show, and the person I purchased them from seemed kind and honest. I took them home and put them in their new coop under quartine away from my other birds. Well... On that Sunday I noticed one of the hens was acting off. She was just laying in the corner, eyes closed, but I thought she was just stressed from the move. The next few days her condition got worse and worse. Comb/wattles got paler, and all she did was sleep, eat a little here and there, and drink a few smalls sips of water. I separated her from the others. The others are totally fine, just her. I concluded this weekend that that person sold me a sick bird. She's hanging in there, but I don't think she's going to make it... But what really sickens me is this person sold me a sick bird. I noticed that when I brought her home that day, when she breathed if I was holding her, it rattled... But didn't think nothing of it. My purpose of this post is to inform you of this person. If you want their name, PM me, I'm not going to post it here. I still can't believe someone would do that, especially in OR/WA. Thank you.

THANK YOU!!! It's so strange, theoretically, for us, everything remains the same, for our family, they are all over our butts!

The first time I asked my older son to mow the lawn, he blew up like a balloon. The first time I asked my younger son to mow the lawn, his nose ran like a faucet. I mow my own lawn.
Here's the sucky part. I love mowing the lawn, especially on MY lawn tractor. But I do do it a few times a year. Gonna have to figure something out once the youngest is out of the house in a few years.

Hope you can kick the hay fever and have many more years mowin'!

J/K. I understand we're all pretty much in the same boat! As far as the Cochins, I'm guessing you're referring to that brilliant red Cochin rooster that shone like a fiery sun yesterday? Gorgeous. I can't wait to see what colors I get. Too bad I won't be keeping them although I'm afraid this may be another myth I'm telling myself.

Yesterday after I posted this photo on Facebook, my DD who is away at college at WSU commented "Mom! No more!", as if I'm a sick hoarder of some kind who required intervention. I had to reassure her I would not be keeping these chicks. They just need to feather out and go off to happy new homes. No problem.

And yes, after I saw the BLRW I thought "oh what harm in just picking up a couple of eggs"?

i'm looking for a large breed puppy. No specific breed. The biggest issue is after demons vet bills I'm left broke, so I have to save up to get the puppy.
There are a few large breed puppies on craigslist. I am not sure what your price range is but there is a newffie pup for 250 and a mastiff mix for 400. Im sorry about Demon... at least now you can rest easy knowing hes at peace.

We Have Got To See This Chick Talk!!

Firewife jess - wow that much to rent a video. Our grocery stores and Walgreens and Walmart rent them for about a buck a piece.

We rent through Comcast and since we don't ever go to the movie theater it's OK to splurge on the HD version of the movies occasionally at home. I know, $6 to watch a movie is a lot, we're generally frugal, but I knew I'd watch it twice and the picture quality is like being at the movies!

Hello! So proud to see all the other people from WA!!! Um, SadieSue, are you anywhere near Olympia? Because I love the pic of your Ameracauna eggs. Those are the bluest I've ever seen!!

Would you ever be selling some chicks? They look like really great layers!

They are great layers but olny when after they get feet and feathers. After the way this weekend went there will be blue eggs from Seattle to Olympia and everywhere in between.
