Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Quote: Thank you! I have 6 blue/green egg layers (2 sister white EEs, 2 sister hawk colored EEs, a Blue Ameraucana, and a Cuckoo MaransxAmeraucana olive egger); the dark egg is my pure BCMarans, and the 3 tan eggs are from a Buff Orp, a Black Australorp, and a RIR. So today, only my Welsummer, my broody BO with chicks, and ONE of my various EEs didn't lay. Pretty good odds!!
Quote: Thanks so much for the suggestions! I will create that thread tomorrow and point everyone in the right direction, it's too late and I had a beer tonight...my brain is gone

I don't know that we need but one table for the food; I'm sure people can bring their own chairs to sit and eat. We'll see how it goes.
Quote: Thanks! Will create said thread tomorrow! Amazed I feel like y'all are family but I haven't actually been to one of these so-called organized pot lucks!

Yes it's by no means permanent. We're a bit up in the air lately about staying in this home (maybe move to MD???) and we also don't want our kids to have a crap-filled backyard to spend their summer. The chooks still have plenty of room to spend their time and even access to the creek for drinking and finding worms, but can't access the rest of the 1/2 acre. It's just t-posts and black "poultry fencing" from Coastal Farm Supply. DH stopped there after work yesterday to pick this stuff up and it took us 20 minutes to put it all in. Easy peasy and it looks not too shabby. I clipped 11 chickens' wings yesterday (both wings of every chicken) to ensure they won't fly over the creek, chain link, or new fence. Seemed to work!

If you want EEs, I *might* be willing to part with one or two of mine for the right price. Maybe. If you're REALLY interested....let me know.

Here's an open invitation to all:
Dawng and I are planning to go see Sadie Sue's play "Reservoir Dolls" on Sunday, April 21.
We're buying tickets for the 2:30 show.
After the show, we are meeting up with Sadie Sue to share a meal. (Not sure which restaurant yet.)
Dawng and I are just north of Seattle in Kirkland and Kenmore.
We went once before and it was fabulous! Well worth the drive.
Who wants to join us?
PM me and we'll figure out the details.
Come one, come all!

I love that idea! Though I've decided our next acquisition will be a Wheaten Ameraucana, which I will name "Wil Wheaten", and then make Wil Wheaton autograph pictures of the chicken at Comic Cons. XD
cant make it to comic on, but will be at Norwescon...pm me if you are going!

HOLY COW, IT HAPPENED!!!

This afternoon on my lunch break, I checked my nest box and I found my first egg!!!
Yipee!!! Congrats!!!

Port Orchard Washington here.....Hello Everyone... =)
Love my Silkies... =)
Hi, Welcome!

I'm close to Silverdale.

I'm going. Just trying to decide what to make. I need to go see if I have any pickled asparagus left. If I do I may make some little hors d'ourves that use the asparagus, cream cheese, and ham. Or I could make some potato soup again. That is always good and easy. I need to look through my recipes for potlucks.

Absolutely, Your Potato Soup!!!

Oh man there is so much going on here with in the lives of BYC folks.

Sweetlilbaby- I really hope that you are able to find the right pup for you and yes I agree Craigslisters can be a real pain in the pa toot. But then again I have met some really great people there too.

ChickAudie- I think it was you (

me if I am wrong) that is getting married.... Yaaaaay
ya.gif
that is great! Congrats to the both of you. (Talking about this makes me want to pull out my wedding dress and run around the house in it until everyone gets home

) I can totally see a blue silkie walking down the isle with a diaper on that has the rings attached to it. You may have to drag a treat on a string down the isle to get her to do it, but I can see it!

I just got back from (running errands and) meeting walady944 and her DH. See she had mentioned that she has some "extra" chicks and some of them were Pollish chicks. Now I have been thinking about getting some of those for a while now. We had a great little visit (wish I could have stayed longer) I got to see where they are setting up her coop and the bathroom that the chicks have taken over

for now. She had a few chicks that we could not figure out what they are. So I came home with one black pollish, one buff pollish and a mystery chick, guess we will just have to wait and see what it turns out to be. Also when she ordered her chicks I think she ordered straight run so we'll also see if we have any boys in the bunch. Oh these Pollish are so darn cute. Pics will come in a bit.

CR- I really hope you and your DW can make it to the show, if not it will be a bummer and you both will be missed there.

Jess- That is really great of you to take on the task of the potluck. I would offer to bring something but not only can I not cook very much, but there is now way I could make anything with the restrictions that everyone here has. My luck I would end up making everyone sick with my food

Congrats on your first egg. That is so great, I remember my first egg and oh what a shock it was. I had not done to much reading on breeds and did not know that chickens could lay blue or green eggs. So when my first egg was bright BLUE, I thought I was losing my mind! You will always remember your first egg. Do you know which of your chickens laid it?

X2 for all she said!! except the bad cooking part, silly girl
