Hey Robin, these aren't Blue Coppers, aren't they just Blue? Blue copper hens are supposed to have the copper color on their heads....like this?

I don't see any "copper" Marans in your group shots either? So are you working on BBS Marans, or Blue Coppers? Also, how's your egg color/leg feathering? Just curious as I'm working on the French Splash Marans and we may need to swap some eggs down the line!

And I still need to PM you......

Hey everyone, I'm a brand new chicken lover and plan on getting 8 chicks this spring, still researching what kind and reading lots and lots. I accidently found this site and already love it! I live in Sequim, WA (between Port Townsend and Port Angeles). Hope to get involved in this forum and make a bunch of peep friends. (Did I say that right?)

Welcome, Welcome. Be sure to read lots and ask lots of questions before spring. You'll be glad you did!

Haven't been here in a few days. 500+ posts behind. I skimmed through them but didn't catch everything.

Welcome newbies!!

The "grass clipping" posts were funny, and ya, I totally missed it. Lol.

All the pics of the birds are neat. There are some gorgeous chickens out there!

For the first time ever, we have all 5 girls laying most days!!! Woot woot!! Just 2-3 wks ago, no one was laying! If we got 1 egg/day, we were lucky. The only thing we changed was light. We added artificial light to the inside of the coop and that seemed to give the girls just what they needed. They even started laying in the nesting boxes...mostly (I'll take it).

Sleep tight BYC!

Quote: He will get home this homing Friday, November 2nd. He is normally home during the holidays. It is rarely worth his time to go see a customer, during the holiday weeks. So he spends most of the holiday weeks working from home. As for me it wouldn't make a difference. We don't celebrate the holidays. I just don't have any attachments to holidays. We do try to do something for our wedding anniversary's. We got married on December 11th. DH is rarely home for that, and that makes me rather sad. We will have our 30th wedding anniversary. I doubt that we will anything for it. I am a brat and want DH plan something, and be here when I want him be here. He has 3 weeks off every year, I know he could get the time off but he love his job, This has become rather normal for our lives. He has been traveling for nearly 15 years.

OK gotta feed the dragon and park the wagon. Tomorrow gonna be a busy day gotta move a group of youngin's to their grow out then gotta make a couple bells and start building (more) stock for Chehalis show.

The sand that we have is in the covered area.Still you are so right about the sand becoming a lot like cement. The area is the coop that we used for meat birds this year made a similar type of hard surface. We did manage to get that cleaned up, but the rest of the sand is still soft. When we find that we need to do a major clean on the run, we will then cover most of the area with pea gravel.
My poor DH is great with helping me with all the very heavy jobs around here. I am missing him. He has been gone for a full weeks, and he isn't going to get home before late next Friday.

WOW he is really not coming home until February ????????????
Not even home for Thanksgiving or Christmas ????????????????????????

How awful !!!!!!!!!  :hit
