Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Pork noodles is made when you simmer the chunks of pork to make a broth. Then pour it over the Chinese Egg Noodles and "dress" it as you like.
And as for Bug Juice. It has to be Kikkoman (the real stuff) or nothing.
But I cannot eat Kikkoman as it is made with wheat.
The La Choy is not made with wheat and is Gluten Free and fine with me !!!
Soy bothers me a little but mostly soybeans used for oil (Vegetable Oil) Soy beans used for oil are different than those grown for their protein, such as those used to make Tofu.
I make Teriyaki with La Choy and Pineapple juice & garlic...it is awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Pork Fahitas last night were awesome !

I had to let the blue boy go. He had a crooked beak and split wing. I waited for him to grow out as long as possible to see if the wing was truly split and it was. Wings issues are a major no no, And he was a little long in the back. He had a lot of things going for him so I kept waiting to see if the wings were ok. I would have done a test breeding with a very short backed girl if his wings had been good. I am on the fence about crooked beaks. If it showed up in offspring then I would have stopped using him. But alas, the wings were bad.

I got a black Cockerel and a hen from Florida, and Ultsol sold me a Splash hen and a black pullet. She is bringing another Black boy to Chehalis for me also. So I should be set to start pair breeding in the spring. I would love to also get some Catdance eggs if I have a broody.

I now have just two of the Catdance Silkies I hatched this summer, and they may both have split wings. :rant One blue girl is just a love, of the 11 chicks she was the one that would come up if I came over and is a sweetie. I kept another dark blue or black to keep her company, but I'm questioning whether I want to keep Silkies or not after the loss of my SQ male and now the possible wing issue. The nine that went to other homes were nice though...go figure!

It's expensive to ship live birds. :idunno Believe me, I just had two silkies shipped from Florida and I paid more in shipping than I did for the birds!
Thanks goodness they got here safe and sound, in one day even. So USPS did a good job for me. but I was nervous after Cloverleafs experience recently.

When I had the aforementioned SQ male shipped, his airfare was more than three times his purchase price. I'm glad yours arrived safely, please share pictures when you can!

FRF and KMH, sorry to hear about the issues with your silkies. Even though I had never planned on having silkies, I ended up with 5. I'm pretty crazy about them. My one black is looking really nice I think, she seems to have the full "S" shape that I see in the show silkies. I'm just waiting to see if she fills out a little more. The others are pets but I just love how soft they are, even though they resist my snuggling now.

Oddly, the one who seems to like me the most and will not only let me pick her up for loves but will actually follow me is that new girl Pearlie June, who I bought when we visited Karen. I'm hoping when the babies get to POL they'll get friendlier. But that Pearlie June, with her lack of beard or full crest is quite the little character. Can't help but be fond of her.

I'm still toying with the idea of having a cockerel who would spend nights in the garage and days with the girls, but I think right now the black is the only one I'd breed so it would have to be a black roo.

FRF, you know if there is some way I can enable you I'd be happy to do so, whether it's helping you get a new boy from Karen or at one of the shows. And of course, that Brinsea is always available for you to use again.

I have French (feather legged) Splash Marans....however, my cockerel is showing a tad bid of red leakage....not too happy about that, but I will be anxious to see how the chicks come out I have 1 hen, 2 pullets at POL (one just started laying about a week ago) and another pullet a few months younger. None of the girls show red leakage at all. The legs are very nicely feathered. I need to get more current pics of them. But just PM me if you want eggs down the line, or chicks.
I have eggs in the bator, from a pinkchick Blue Copper boy over Black Copper hens...so may have some nice extra cockerels if you want ?

Hey Robin, these aren't Blue Coppers, aren't they just Blue? Blue copper hens are supposed to have the copper color on their heads....like this?

I don't see any "copper" Marans in your group shots either? So are you working on BBS Marans, or Blue Coppers? Also, how's your egg color/leg feathering? Just curious as I'm working on the French Splash Marans and we may need to swap some eggs down the line!

And I still need to PM you......
Seems "Blue Copper" in the UK is different than BBS here in the USA.
From what I have seen, "Blue Copper" over there breeds true, and has no blacks or splash.
Is that what you are talking about ?
There is (so far) one of my BBS hens that has the slightest gold (copper) on her neck right behind her ears.
I really love the UK's "Blue Copper" coloration...but I also LOVE my splash hens.
Have you seen any Splash hens with the gold heads as you show above ?
I haven't.......wish there was............BBS WITH the gold heads would be way cool................

He will get home this homing Friday, November 2nd. He is normally home during the holidays. It is rarely worth his time to go see a customer, during the holiday weeks. So he spends most of the holiday weeks working from home. As for me it wouldn't make a difference. We don't celebrate the holidays. I just don't have any attachments to holidays. We do try to do something for our wedding anniversary's. We got married on December 11th. DH is rarely home for that, and that makes me rather sad. We will have our 30th wedding anniversary. I doubt that we will anything for it. I am a brat and want DH plan something, and be here when I want him be here. He has 3 weeks off every year, I know he could get the time off but he love his job, This has become rather normal for our lives. He has been traveling for nearly 15 years.
I think it would make me very depressed, but you do have other family to be with don't you ?
And do gifts, tree & lights ?
And have a big dinner ?
I feel bad for you if you are alone during Holidays............
