Dog Math sounds fun !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I make the best Brownies, the last batch was extra special. I do have a medical approval to buy the green stuff, but I am not sure that I want to use it. So far I haven't bothered to try the green stuff. I am certain that I can probability live without the green stuff,.
Does he mean Greenies as in the dog treat ???
My dog cannot eat wheat, nor can my Mom's, Brother's or my sister's dog.
Be cool to make GF greenies for them !

It's a proven fact that paper attracts cat butts. Place a sheet of paper on the floor in an empty room, and you will find a cat sitting on it. LOL

My last cat was a Himalayen..(sp?)....gorgeous Sweet female, fixed, who also brought home hummingbirds (alive) and assorted earth-dwelling creatures (dead) but LOVED paper...and as a watercolor artist, quite often she would walk onto & lay on, my art table, where I paint on 100% cotton rag 'paper'.
The paper is rough..so the kitty hair stuck, not to mention paw prints across wet paint.
I had to cover my artwork...

She also LOVED paper stuff, such as money & my paycheck left on a table to deposit the next day.shredded on the floor the next morning.........

This is her as a kitten:

Love this picture......she was after a fly on the window, and shredding my curtains.

My cat loves this bumpy textured paper they put between sheets of stained glass when it's shipped. We'll put some out on a coffee table and she will spend most of her time on that paper. She'll roll around on it and purr like crazy. It's completely adorable.
Do you do Stained Glass ?
I am wanting a few peices, maybe...for the new house................can't decide if I want to do them or buy them.

I have a question for those of you with covered runs. So far, I've never cleaned poop out of the run. It doesn't seem to need it, I just add some straw when it gets to looking dirty. I've been thinking of doing a full cleanout though, because whatever rodent is still living under my coop has been pulling all the straw under the coop as bedding and protection; I can no longer see under the coop it's packed so tight with straw. Been thinking about using all those fall leaves in there instead. So should I just rake out all the old straw and stick it in the composter? Will it start to break down on its' own? It's obviously full of poop, and I'll keep adding the poop I scoop off the shelf each day as well. I guess I'm just wondering how often y'all maintain your covered chicken runs (not the coop, our coop is very clean). In the summer it was totally covered in flies but I think that's just the nature of having animals?? Now that it's winter the flies are gone and the smell is gone too. Will it all just break down over winter or should I compost it and start fresh every once in a while?
Can I answer even if my run isn't covered? Every now and again, I go in there and either haul off the straw to either mulch the garden with or pile up to compost further. I didn't design my old run well, so often this wound up in the corner of the run first, but other times I'd haul it out. The hens loved this day, and would follow me around to get at all the wriggly, juicy nibblets I unearthed. They scratched up and loosened the soil (usually damp because this was not covered) and when they worked at it for a day or two, I would go in and harvest the good soil, then cover with a fresh layer or ripe hay. They enjoyed that, too.

Because I mostly just piled up the fresh hay on top of the old, the work was only occasional. Still, it was enough that our new arrangement I have the birds running in the future veggie garden that is fenced against the deer. Now all I need to do the clean out the coop.

If you are concerned about retaining fertility in your composted bedding over the winter, make sure it gets covered after it has a chance to get damp. This will help retain heat and speed the compost along as well.

ETA: to some extent, I think flies are part of having animals, plus some smell. But there is a point when too much is too much. I haven't had too many birds at once yet (next year watch out!) but I am pretty generous with the bedding, much more than most people I know. I also mulch my garden like crazy. Maybe it's connected to my childhood when I covered my menagerie of stuffed critters to keep them warm at night!
