Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

So it's been a bad morning. A predator got my broody last night. It got in through the one gap in the corner between the fence and netting. Or at least that's how it dragged the broody out. It ate her head, guts and breast. I think it was a weasel of some sort. I saw scat the other day out in the field and the dogs didn't treat it like coyote.

Today was 2 weeks on her eggs, I'm not sure how long they were without heat. I put them under the silkie who had just went broody a few days ago since her eggs were infertile. Hopefully both eggs with hatch.

I am so sorry that is just sad..

Has anyone owned a great pyranese? They're suppose to be great livestock guardians ( with consistent training of course) your thoughts the breed?

We just lost our girl at Christmas can't talk about it I'll cry. We have land and GOATS she so loved them. If you live in the city limits don't do it they bark and bark, she use to have a group of dogs around here Sheraton to and let then know all was clear. It was a wonderful thing. I SO want another one butt it's too soon in my heart. I'm sorry I can't talk any more.. I can't see to type.

My first thought was I didn't know there are Professional Bull Rider chickens.

What a bummer. Hope your chicks all hatch healthy.

Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps Washingtonians Please Help ChickAudie Plan a Wedding!

There I fixed it!!

Ok, so maybe obviously, with five kids, baby chickens and full-time job, I have no social life. DFH (like what I did there? Dear Future Husband) DOESN'T GIVE A RIP about this whole thing. He's happy to show up and be the reason for a kickarse party. So when I say I need help with the honeymoon, I have very limited resources to valuable opinions and could always use extra "IMO"s.

There are two options that we have:

1) Luxurious hotel suite in downtown Seattle, two night stay with a lovely Argosy dinner cruise and all the attractions of the city, mearly 45 mins from the reception; or

2) A two night stay at Abendblume B&B in Leavenworth (two and a half hours away), where they boast horseback riding, river rafting, wine tasting and peaceful sweeping country views. As seen here http://www.abendblume.com/index.html

GUYS! CHIME IN ANYTIME!
Leavenworth hands down. I love the mountains and that area is so beautiful.

I got married again in 2009 and never got a honeymoon. Perhaps I can talk the hubby into one this summer???

Jack is a rescue dog from Moses Lake. I went after his litter as he was advertised as a Per.X Aussie. The loner we have had him, the more I KNOW he has Malamute in him, hence the "Talking" he does.....no dogs "talk" like a malamute !!!!!!!!!!!! Jack is an ***........he is a man's dog and seldom minds either of us............dispite being CUT and trained daily by us both...............wild is the way to describe Jack. Under supervison, he tolerates the flocks, but when no one's looking~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!!!!! My next dog will not be a rescue, my next dog and probably the one after that, will be Nufies

I have heard many complain of Pyranees not tolerating poultry. Brother's Newfie: She is so gorgeous ! And so mellow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE Miss Eva !!!! (That is her name)

Raphael was wonderful with our chickens as a matter of fact the funny girl would let the crows have her food. They are not like any other dogs they presuppose to think on there own. They are very smart she use to watch the kids across the street play and if anyone would walk our street she would bark her special bark. They are meant to do a job, she would come in the house but she was so much happier outside with her girls..

MikeyB-

ha! a friend sent me this link today- about DIY projects- and voila- this "famous" DIYer made garden beds like I was describing to you! Like she said- $10 garden beds - made from fence boards!

BTW- look at the photos that other readers sent in- one of the folks used 2x2 uprights on one of the beds- (that's what they usually use for the "spokes" on porch railings) . Now, that's a fabulous improvement idea I had not thought of- built-in plant supports!

check this out!:

Bless your heart! Thank you for thinking about me. Funny thing is, just the other day I was at the "Big Boy's Toy Store" aka The Home Depot and figured I would make the raised beds from that very material. They also have 2x3 that I was athinkin' I could use for the supports.

Now all I need is the "scratch, mulla, dble sawbucks, a benji," or get lucky at the casino. No, wait, that won't work, I don't go to the casino. Just making a funny, the cost is good and I can build them in the garage/shop.
Thank you again.

They are great mellow dogs. They do require training but once trained they will be great flock guardians. That being said, it is a large breed that can, and does, have the typical large breed issues. Find our more on akc.org.
